I’ve been a fan of both Kurt Busiek and Carlos Pacheco for many years (you know Kurt from his classic series Marvels and Astro City, and Carlos’ run writing AND drawing Fantastic Four is one of my favourites!). So when they asked me to do a variant cover for their creator-owned series Arrowsmith, I said yes immediately.

Arrowsmith takes place in an alternate history World War I with magic and dragons. It was originally published by Wildstorm/DC but is now being continued at Image Comics.

Anyway, it was a fun excuse for me to draw more birds and a dragon. I forgot to record the final stages of colouring (with all the effects, etc) but you’ll see all of the actual drawing, colour flatting and dragon-rendering here. Enjoy!
